In short – I really love these!
The one I am wearing in the picture is a mixture of “Dance with Me” and “Rich and Restless”.
I’m already a convert to liquid lipsticks and have tried lots of different ones so I was excited when Mac brought out these.
Pros – They have a huge range of colours! The formulation is light and not sticky, I find them comfortable to wear all day and they really do stay put. The wand is a nice tapered shape which follows the lip contours well helping you get right to the lip-line neatly. They are very matte (as the name suggests!) and they dry quickly – you don’t get much playtime with them so you have to work quickly and carefully. The shades mix together nicely allowing you to create your own custom shade – you need to mix them on a palette and apply with a lip brush so that you don’t contaminate the originals. The packaging is so cute! I love how they look like a mac lipstick merged with a gloss.
Cons – Not cheap! At £21 they are budget busters. I think if you aren’t used to wearing liquid lipsticks you may find them a little drying, or if you are prone to dry lips anyway. For me this isn’t an issue and as I said I’m used to the liquid lipstick formula and they are all a little drying – these ones are much less drying than some brands I’ve tried (MUA Luxe, Kryolan).
The shades I have are:
To Matte With Love – a beautiful fuschia pink
Mademoiselle – Peachy nude
Quite the standout – Lovely orangey red
Dance with me – This one is my favourite, the perfect red
Rich and Restless – very similar to Vegas Volt, a pretty coral
I have a youtube video with swatches if you would like to see more here
